SAMPLE BLOOD COLLECTION WITH 75 G GLUCOSE CONSUMPTION AND EXAMINE GLUCOSE AFTER 2 HRS
- Patients need not fast
- 75 g of glucose is dissolved in water and given to the patient
- At the end of 2 hours sample is collected for analysis
- Patients can have normal diet the previous day( High carbohydrate foodstuff should be avoided as this would increase the blood sugar level)
PATIENTS WHO COME FOR FASTING BLOOD SUGAR, CHOLESTEROL
- Patients should be fasting(Patients should fast for a minimum of 8 hrs and maximum 10 hrs only)
POST PRANDIAL BLOOD SUGAR INSTRUCTIONS
- Blood to be collected between 1 ½ and 2 hours after a normal diet
- Do not exercise
24 HRS URINE COLLECTION
- Collect all urine excreted from morning of day 1 to the following day (Day2) morning
- The 1 st urine sample passed is likely to contain pus cells, Do not collect the same
- Patient name, age, sex, OP No, time and date of starting collection and ending collection should be noted
URINE FOR CULTURE
- Patients are instructed to wash the area and void the first urine passed and collect the following urine into sterile container
SEMEN
- Patients are instructed to collect the sample into a sterile container
SPUTUM
- Wash mouth and expectorate sputum not saliva
STOOL
- Patients are instructed to collect stool into sterile container
